TELEVIZER / PRIVACY
Your content.
Your browser.
Televizer’s presentation features run on your device. Page content and captured areas are not sent to a Televizer server.
Effective October 10, 2026 · Covers the Televizer Chrome extension and televizerapp.com.
Who operates Televizer
Televizer is developed and maintained by Andy Roberts. For support or a general privacy question, use the Televizer support tracker. Issues are public: do not submit private or sensitive information.
Content processed by the extension
When you activate Televizer, it reads the page elements needed to present the content you choose. This can include text, selected quotes, table labels and values, image and media references, and chart content. It processes this information locally to enlarge content, calculate comparisons, and display the presentation.
When you request area capture, Chrome captures the visible tab and Televizer crops the selected region for display. The capture is held locally in memory for the feature; it is not uploaded to us or saved as a screenshot file by the extension. Closing the page clears its in-memory presentation state.
The extension does not send page content, selected text, table data, browsing history, or screenshots to the developer. It has no advertising or analytics integration and does not sell user data or use it to train AI models.
Settings stored on your device
Televizer uses Chrome’s local extension storage for your automatic-enablement settings: whether to enable it everywhere and the website origins you have chosen. These settings stay in the browser’s local extension storage; Televizer does not sync them to its own servers. You can remove saved sites through Manage Televizer settings. Removing the extension removes its local extension storage.
Permissions and their purpose
- activeTab: temporary access to the tab you activate, including a requested visible-tab capture.
- scripting: load Televizer’s presentation features into a permitted webpage.
- storage: keep your local automatic-enablement settings.
- contextMenus: provide toolbar-menu commands for access and settings.
- Optional website access: automatically enable Televizer on websites you choose, or everywhere if you explicitly grant that option.
Website access can be revoked in Televizer’s settings or Chrome’s extension controls. Televizer complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements: information accessed through Chrome APIs is used only to provide the user-facing presentation features described here.
Media and third-party websites
Enlarging existing images, videos, or embedded content can cause your browser to load that media from its original provider. Those providers may receive normal requests and apply their own privacy practices. This is separate from sending content to the Televizer developer.
This website
televizerapp.com serves its images, fonts, and demonstration video directly. It does not set analytics or advertising cookies and includes no third-party tracking scripts. Like other websites, the hosting infrastructure processes request information such as IP address, browser details, requested paths, and timestamps to deliver the site and maintain security; infrastructure logs may retain this information. We do not use it for advertising or sell it.
External links—including GitHub, the browser demo hosted on GitHub Pages, and any Chrome Web Store listing—take you to services with their own privacy policies. The demo video on this site is self-hosted and does not load a YouTube player.
Support requests
If you choose to open an issue, GitHub receives the information you submit under its privacy policy. Your username, report, and attachments may be publicly visible. We use reports to answer questions, investigate defects, and improve Televizer. Support content remains on GitHub until removed through GitHub’s available controls or policies. Avoid uploading private content; remove or edit sensitive material you posted using GitHub’s controls.
Your choices and changes to this policy
You can turn the extension off, revoke site permissions, remove saved settings, or uninstall it at any time. Since presentation content is processed locally and not collected by us, we do not have a server-side copy to provide or delete. Website and support information are handled as described above.
We will update this page and its effective date if Televizer’s data practices change. New permissions will be requested through the browser when required.
